Damage from a possible tornado in Nahunta, Ga.
That mobile home belonged to Charlene Mathis’ mother-in-law.
“We weren’t here when it hit but we got a call from our neighbor and said a tornado just came through and they thought we had some damage. We didn’t expect what we found when we got here,” Mathis said.
Their travel trailer also hit the back of their home and put a hole in the roof.
“Inside my home, it knocked the cabinet off the wall in the kitchen and broke dishes all over the floor. It was unexpected but we’re okay and we’re thankful for that. We’re going to be alright,” Mathis said.
She also said one of her neighbors was severely impacted.
“She actually had talked to us on the phone before we got here and she was trapped in her home for a little while because it tore her front porch and back porch off and she couldn’t get in and out. So she was here during the whole thing. So she was probably very frightened,” Mathis said.
Other homes were destroyed too.
“In this particular mobile home, someone was home and it picked it up and set it down. There were people in the other home too and it basically split their mobile home in half, but they weren’t hurt or nothing,” Joey Cason, the Brantley County manager said.
