12-year-old walking on sidewalk shot when gunman drives up, starts shooting: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 12-year-old girl was shot Thursday after a car approached her and started shooting while she was walking on a street in the Panama Park neighborhood.

JSO said the girl was walking along the sidewalk on Buffalo Avenue around 5 p.m. with another person when an unknown vehicle drove by and started shooting.

The 12-year-old was hit and taken to the hospital. She is in stable condition, according to police. Police did not say if the other person was injured.

The sheriff’s office is investigating and detectives are interviewing witnesses.

It’s believed that the shooter’s vehicle was a gray four-door sedan, but that is all the information officers have as of now.
