FDOT announces upcoming construction projects that could impact commuters

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has several upcoming construction projects that could impact drivers’ commutes starting at the end of March and the beginning of April.

Three upcoming projects are happening in our area.

Construction to resurface State Road 134 (103rd Street) from Shindler Drive to Firestone Road begins next week.

It’s a $7.3 million project that includes milling, curb and gutter work, drainage improvements, bridge repairs, and sidewalk and utility work.

Improvements on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway by State Road 115 from Boulevard Street to Beach Boulevard are also set to begin.

It’s a $7.9 million project to instill an Intelligent Transportation System conduit bore under the roadway. Its completion date is set for 2027.

Haines Street northbound between Marshall Street and Jessie Street will be closed daily starting on Tuesday, March 26 through Thursday, March 28 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for installation of the conduit bore.

As a detour, drivers will take Haines Street northbound, take a right onto Marshall Street, turn left onto Talleyrand Avenue, turn left onto Jessie Street, then take a right onto Haines Street northbound.
