ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Three men were arrested in connection with a shooting incident that led to a pursuit and ended with a crash on State Road 206 in St. Johns County Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Friday, deputies responded to the Cypress Links subdivision after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, deputies saw the suspect car leaving the neighborhood, which led to a pursuit southbound on Interstate 95, and then westbound on SR-206.

The pursuit ended with the suspect car crashing into a citizen’s car at the intersection with County Road 305.
Five suspects ran away from the vehicle, deputies said.
As they were looking for the suspects, deputies placed Southwoods Elementary School under lockdown due to the close proximity. Intelligence Analysts from the SJSO Real Time Intelligence Center immediately assumed control of school cameras and began monitoring while additional deputies were dispatched to the school property, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies were able to locate all suspects and took them into custody.
Further investigation revealed the suspect car was reported stolen out of Georgia, where all the suspects reside, according to deputies.
Three firearms were found inside the car and may be connected to other crimes in other jurisdictions, officials said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim of the shooting is in stable condition and expected to survive. He is not cooperating with detectives.
The citizen involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, deputies said.
One of the suspects was airlifted to a trauma center due to the injuries he suffered in the crash and is in critical condition.
Three of the suspects have been formally arrested and charged:
- Fitzroy Ellis, 18, is facing a charge of resisting law enforcement without violence. He also has an active murder warrant out of Georgia.
- Dovanni Small, 18, is being charged with grand theft motor vehicle and resisting law enforcement without violence.
- Travion Washington, 18, is being charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and resisting law enforcement without violence.
This is an ongoing investigation.
