The House approved the legislation because of widespread data-sharing and foreign influence concerns tied to the app.
The TikTok ban is tied in with billions of dollars in foreign aid.
A community member by the beaches said he didn’t like Congress including the ban with money to help countries in need.
Another person said she understands the government being concerned about safety when it comes to the app.
“I see the pros and cons of both of it because there’s some sides of TikTok that aren’t really great,” Ashlyn Weaver said.
News4JAX Insiders gave their opinions as well.
“TikTok should not be banned. If our representatives cared about the safety of our children, they’d be targeting all social media, not just the Chinese-owned one. It’s a bill rooted in nothing more than fear,” Savannah said.
Greg said, “No, Congress should do their job and pass consumer protections that doesn’t allow social media companies to sell or steal user data.”
This now moves on to the Senate which is expected to pick this foreign aid package up on Tuesday.
