MIAMIFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis met with former President Donald Trump on Sunday, and according to multiple reports, DeSantis agreed to help Trump’s campaign as he tries to defeat President Joe Biden and return to the White House.

Florida Politics spoke to Susie Wiles, a local political operative who works with the Trump campaign, and she confirmed the meeting.

“The meeting was fine, went long, ended with a handshake. They discussed the full range of policy issues and politics, too. Ron’s role in the campaign is yet to be determined, but he was clear that he wanted to help in every way he could,” Wiles told Florida Politics.

According to the Washington Post, allies who wanted to see the two repair their strained relationship set up the meeting and the Trump campaign hopes DeSantis will help the former president raise money for the general election.

The two met for several hours after it was set up by Steve Witkoff, a Florida real estate investor and developer both men know, the Post reported.

DeSantis has endorsed Trump in the race, but the two had not spoken since DeSantis dropped out of the race in January, according to The Post. They have hurled insults at each other, both directly and indirectly, before and after DeSantis entered the race to become the Republican nominee.

DeSantis held a news conference on Monday morning but left for another event and did not take questions from the media.
