Rear Adm. James Aiken said this about their visit, “Jacksonville is one of the most spectacular cities in the United States. It is one of the most military friendly cities in the United States.” He went on to say that so many of the sailors, some not even from this country, are thanked for their service every time they are in Jacksonville and it’s something special.

“We don’t get aircraft carriers in Jacksonville very often so what an honor for the USS George Washington to be here,” Rear Adm. Aiken said.

The aircraft carrier has been docked in Virginia for the last six years, undergoing a massive overhaul. When the USS George Washington arrives in Japan, it will relieve the USS Ronald Regan.
