JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sheriff T.K. Waters and dozens of other Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office members participated in the Neighborhood Crime Prevention Walk in the Southside, Mandarin and Nocatee areas Saturday morning.
Saturday’s walk took place around the Cypress Trails at Nocatee Community, encompassing a walk along Cypress Trails Drive, and Apen Leaf Drive, in the 32081 ZIP code.
“I like to tell everyone... that we haven’t forgotten. We know where they sit on the map. And you know, we spend a lot of time closer toward town, but we want to make sure we extend, because everybody’s thoughts and concerns are very important to us. So, we wanted to come out,” Waters said.
Patrol District 3 Assistant Chief Randi Glossman also walked with the sheriff.
According to Waters, some of the neighbors’ concerns included speeding and parking on sidewalks.
“Another successful crime and safety prevention walk,” Waters said. “Great neighborhood. Very few complaints.”
A.J. Jordan with MAD DADS Jacksonville chapter, also participated in the walk.
“Knocking on doors, meeting the residents and just letting them know that we here, that we work in partnership with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to keep our city safe for everybody, no matter if you live on the Westside of Jacksonville or in Nocatee,” Jordan said. “We are here for you. We are here to serve our city.”
Sheriff Waters has been hosting these neighborhood walks since last year in an effort to bridge the gap between police and the community.
