JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family and friends of a woman gunned down at a Fairfax gas station returned to the crime scene Wednesday night to hold a candlelight vigil.

Demeshia Gainer was shot outside of a black four-door sedan that was in the parking lot of a Daily’s gas station early Saturday morning.

Dozen came to pay their respects for the 32-year-old mother.

Her loved ones have so many looming questions about her death.

“It’s been frustrating. We’ve been angry, irritated, confused as to why,’ Gainer’s friend Hidy told News4JAX.

Detectives said they found surveillance footage that showed the woman arriving at the gas station in a car with a man.

According to police, the man, who was wearing all-black clothing, ran away after the shooting and headed south on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police found Isaiah Hawkins, 33, during a traffic stop when he was taken into custody for an interview. He was later arrested and charged with murder.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting or the relationship between Hawkins and Gainer.
