Legends Center offers extended hours for those affected by storm-related power outages

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The City of Jacksonville announced it will keep the Legends Center open until 10 p.m. Saturday for those people who are still being affected by power outages caused by Friday’s storms.

“Our partners at JEA are tirelessly working to restore the remaining outages. We understand the challenges, and we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable while they continue their efforts,” a city spokesperson wrote.

As storms came through the area Friday morning, there were reports of wind gusts up to 70 mph which knocked down power lines, flipped a tractor-trailer on the Dames Point Bridge and downed trees.

According to JEA’s outage map, as of 4:13 p.m., there were 71 active outages and 442 customers affected.

The Legends Center is located at 5130 Soutel Drive.
