JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An escalated custody disagreement led to a shooting incident on Tuesday afternoon outside of a home on Seaboard Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said a man in his 40s and his child’s mother were arguing over a custody issue around 5:30 p.m.

At some point the argument escalated and a friend of the mother ended up shooting the man in the stomach.
The man in his 40s was taken to hospital. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Investigators are conducting interviews to determine if any arrests will be made.
The child is safe and staying with loved ones, according to police.
