JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Duval County Public Schools officer was accused of battery and a security guard was fired after he was accused of making inappropriate statements to students, according to a message sent to parents of students at Mandarin Middle School.
Curtis Omarr Williams was assigned as a school safety officer at the middle school.

Officials said the alleged incidents happened on Nov. 15 and he was removed from the school the next day. The school did not provide details about the incident but noted that the victim was an adult and not a student.
Following an investigation, DCPS police received approval from the State Attorney’s Office to make the arrest, which occurred off campus.
Williams was charged with battery with no injury.
DCPS said security guard Nathan David Behar is in the process of being terminated from employment for making inappropriate sexual statements to students.
An investigation began on May 3 after an allegation was received from a parent.
The allegations were reported to the Department of Children and Families.
A message to parents from Mandarin Middle’s principal said, in part:
“While this is all disappointing news, I hope this assures you that we have high standards for employee conduct and will take appropriate action to ensure that we are providing students and families with a safe and appropriate learning environment,” Principal Julie Humphreys said.
