JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested Wednesday and accused of murder in connection with a shooting that killed a 26-year-old man in 2023 on Philips Highway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
In late October 2023, police responded to a shooting on Philips Highway, near Bowdendale and Stepp avenues. When they arrived, police found a man shot to death on the road, near a private business. They also found two other men who had been injured by gunfire and were transported to a hospital, according to JSO.

The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Ronaldo Parana Camargo.
In the early stages of the investigation, surveillance footage showed one of the suspects and the car used during the shooting, police said.
After releasing the information to the public, police received a tip and identified one of the suspects as Christopher Antonio Garcia-Jimenez, 26.
Garcia-Jimenez was arrested in November 2023 and charged with accessory to murder and tampering with evidence.
As the investigation continued, police were able to identify a second suspect, identified as Ellis Mannuelle Marrero-Ramos, 19.
According to JSO’s inmate portal, Marrero-Ramos was arrested on May 15 and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
“Thanks to the help of a conscientious and concerned citizen, these dangerous criminals are off the street and will be held accountable for their actions,” JSO Public Information Officer Christian Hancock wrote in a press release.
