ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The city of St. Augustine started performing smoke testing of the city’s sanitary sewer system Monday.
According to the city, the goal of the smoke testing is to identify sources of stormwater runoff or groundwater intrusion entering the city’s sewage collection system.

USSI will be in charge of performing the smoke testing on several sewage collection basins in the city, city officials said.
This is the project schedule, per the city:
- Basins 2, 3, 16, 17, 20 (Greater Fullerwood & Nelmar Terrace): June 3-7
- Basins 7, 15, 49, 84 (Ravenswood): June 10-14
- Basins 1, 8, 9, 29, 33, 65, 66 (Oyster Creek): June 17-21
- Basins 4, 5, 6, 21, 22, 23, 42 (Magnolia, Uptown, Flagler Model Land & Spanish Quarter): June 24-28
- Basins 10, 11, 12, 24 (Lincolnville & Old City South): July 1-5
- Basins 50, 51, 52, 56 (North/South Davis Shores & Lighthouse Park): July 8-12
- Basins 58, 60, 64 (Anastasia Island): July 15-19
According to the city, properties in the testing areas are being notified with door hangers.
