JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Russia, China, and other large companies are using fake women created with artificial intelligence for clickbait content on social media.

Whether a person is attractive or not is a subjective or personal opinion, but that attraction could be the reason some people get influenced by AI.
Chris Hamer is a Jacksonville-based cybersecurity expert with 45 years of experience in the industry.
“How long have advertisers been using aesthetically pleasing individuals in their advertisements depends on who their targeted audience is,” Hamer said.
The Associated Press reported an election counter in Taiwan was posted on social media and the person appeared to have made an error in counting votes to suggest voter tampering. It was quickly debunked as false.

“The use of AI whether it’s impersonating females or not is to address differences in communication, language, format, colloquialism that allow them to provide a less alerting engagement,” Hamer said.
He also said there are pros to AI.
“AI has done amazing things in cancer research,” Hamer said. “The artificial intelligence being able to browse through millions of biopsies and find patterns that scientists miss. The ability for them to work through protein chains for new medications, amazing things.”
He noted that there are cons to using it as well.
“Unfortunately [it] falls into the shadows when you can generate a naked picture of some celebrity,” Hamer said.
In the United States, a similar issue has been made public. The Department of Homeland Security warned all election supervisors of misinformation to interrupt elections.
Hamer said a possible solution is critical thinking and research.
Just because something appears on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true and if it’s attached to a pretty face, it may only be there to persuade our thoughts and behavior.
He also said historically, women have been used in cases of spying for another country to get information because they are stereotyped as non-aggressive and the same applies online.
