JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 16-year-old who pleaded guilty to second-degree felony murder and armed robbery in the shooting death of another teen in Sandalwood last September was sentenced Friday to 16 years in Florida State Prison.

Bobby Dann, who was 15 years old at the time, Gabriel Waisanen, and Me’Kel Queen tried to rob a drug dealer, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said the dealer, Joshua Roberts, shot and killed Queen, who was found on Java Drive on Sept. 2.

Roberts did not face any charges in Queen’s death but was arrested on drug charges.

Dann was arrested a day after the shooting. Police recovered shell casings at the scene from two different types of guns.

Dann and Waisanen both pleaded guilty to felony murder in Queen’s death because the teen died while they were committing a crime.

Dann, who pleaded guilty in March, was sentenced to 16 years for the felony murder and 15 years for the attempted robbery. The sentences will run concurrently with a mandatory minimum of 10 years.

“Your attorney’s done an excellent job for you. You’ll still be a young man when you get out,” the judge told Dann during Friday’s sentencing hearing.

Waisanen has also accepted a plea deal. Investigators say he provided the gun the teens used when they tried to hold up the suspected drug dealer. He will be sentenced next week.
