Former State Sen. Audrey Gibson resigns from role with city of Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former State Sen. Audrey Gibson has resigned from her role as the head of the Grants and Compliance Division with the city of Jacksonville.

Mayor Donna Deegan appointed Gibson, who also ran against her for mayor, to the position.

The mayor’s office shared this statement about her resignation:

“We are grateful for Audrey’s contributions to our administration during a productive and history-making first year, as well as her decades-long career serving the people of Jacksonville. We wish Audrey the best in her future endeavors.”

We reached out to Gibson to learn why she resigned but did not immediately hear back from her.
