JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested in connection with the murder of a woman who was found dead inside a trash container at a home in Brentwood Monday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said they were initially called to a home on West 41st Street Sunday evening for a well-being check after an acquaintance reported that she had not seen or spoken to the victim in approximately two weeks. She also reported smelling a “foul odor” coming from the house.

When police arrived, officers spoke to the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Justin Henderson, and told officers he knew the victim but she did not live with him. Henderson also said that he had not seen her in the last two or three weeks.

Henderson allowed officers to search inside his home. However, police said they did not observe anyone else inside or detect any foul odors, so they made a report and left.

The following day, police were contacted once again and asked to go to Henderson’s home after concerned family members of the victim also reported they had been unable to make contact with her for several days. The family members also said that her social media had been inactive, which they described as “unusual,” according to Henderson’s arrest report.

Officers returned to Henderson’s home to conduct another search.

While searching outside, police said they found a body inside of a trash container.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Quintasha Ross.

After discovering Ross’ remains, Henderson was detained and brought for questioning.

Henderson was then arrested and booked into the Duval County jail on charges of murder, abuse of a dead body and tampering with evidence.
