Suspect injured after victim shoots him in self-defense in Northwest Jacksonville: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in Northwest Jacksonville Saturday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said around 9 a.m., they responded to Moncrief Road, near the intersection with West 45th Street, after receiving reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to a local hospital.

Initial investigation determined that the man was a suspect in a previous shooting. According to police, the suspect approached the victim while outside a convenience store and shot several times, missing the victim.

Then, the victim started shooting back and struck him. The victim ran away from the area, police said.

As of Saturday afternoon, police said the victim had not returned to the scene or contacted JSO.
