Man in critical condition after being shot in the head at Southside hotel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was critically injured in a shooting Thursday morning at a Southside hotel, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said they responded to the hotel on Cagle Road, near University Boulevard West, around 10:30 a.m. after getting reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head.

JFRD transported the man to a local hospital, and as of 2:40 p.m., he remained in critical condition, police said.

Initial investigation showed that two people were involved in a dispute over property, and during that argument, the victim pulled out a gun and was ultimately shot in the head, according to JSO.

Police said several people have been detained for questioning.
