Woman, teen girl critically injured in Palatka shooting

PALATKA, Fla. – A 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were wounded Wednesday night in a shooting, the Palatka Police Department said.

Officers were called to a reported shooting on North 16th Street around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

They found the woman with a gunshot wound to her back and the teen with a gunshot wound to her head.

People were helping the victims when officers arrived and the woman and teen were “alert and conscious.”

The two were taken to HCA Palatka Hospital and then transferred to trauma centers in the area.

They were last listed in critical but stable condition.

Police are not releasing their names and said no other information was available at this time.
