JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An arrest was made almost a year after a 2023 shooting in Moncrief that left a father of six dead.

Quynn Robinson Sr., 35, was found dead inside a car last June in the Moncrief area.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Briyhon Johnson, 22, who was already in the Duval County jail on unrelated charges, and accused him of killing Robinson.

Robinson’s family remembers him as a father of six who was studying to become a pastor.

“I remember waking up and I’ve seen it on like everyone was sending it to me on Instagram and text messages, screenshotting it saying ‘They got him,’ Caron Robinson said. “The crazy part is that when I showed my daughter she actually went to school with him.”

She said the family is still shocked.

“It’s still unreal right now because now we gotta get ready for the trial,” Caron Robinson said. “...You know everything that’s going to come out.”

She talked about the emotions the family felt after not getting any answers for almost a year.

“It sent chills out because I was like ‘Wow, the irony of the timing’ which was just crazy,” Caron Robinson said. “It’s scary to know the people out here doing that and you just don’t know who, what, when, how or why.”

She said that even though an arrest has been made, its still been hard for their family.

“It’s been a battle and it’s like losing your best friend,” Caron Robinson said. “That’s hard but losing your brother, you just don’t know how to deal with it.”

Caron Robinson encourages families whose loved one’s cases are unsolved to keep the faith.

“Keep hope first, God is old,” Robinson said. “As much as you get mad and want to take matters into your own hands, pray it up and let God handle that because we couldn’t imagine anything that happened like this within that time.”

The family has been trying to stay strong during a tough time.

“I know he’s proud of us because we’ve been rocking for him,” she said.

A woman has also been arrested in connection with Robinson’s murder. Diamyn Pearson is charged with accessory after the fact.
