JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two business owners said they are days away from reopening after a tornado hit them on Beach Boulevard.

They are making the final repairs so they can get back to serving their community.

Rosalia Banderas is the 11-year-old daughter of Lisandra Sanchez who is the owner of 90 Miles from Cuba.

“Yesterday, we came in cleaned everything deeply, and then we put our split on so air can flow through,” Banderas said.

Portable AC, cleaner, and elbow grease are what they are cooking with 90 Miles from Cuba.

Banderas and her family said they can’t wait to see real grease on the grill soon.

They’re closed until the AC unit on the roof is replaced. Every customer who calls or stops by the restaurant gets them more excited.

“Hundreds of people [called] and then people coming in and walking in,” Sanchez said.

Next door is barbershop owner Kelvin Hernandez who said he’s ready to see the chairs filled.

“I don’t work for two weeks and all my barbers called me to check how long everything is going to be fixed,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez said he is trying to style the experience of his customers.

“Paying attention to all the details and what the client sees,” Hernandez said. “If you see their reviews and everything, all the clients say the same, like everything is clean.”

The same can be said for the family at 90 Miles from Cuba.

“The most important thing with this family in this business is probably that tradition,” Banderas said. “We’re trying to spread the tradition.”
