JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced a murder arrest Wednesday after a man was found shot after crashing into a building on Myrtle Avenue.

After an investigation by detectives from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units, police arrested Anthony Brooks, 57, in connection to the murder of Anthony Maxwell, 39.

Police said on the morning of July 6, officers responded to a vehicle crash on Myrtle Avenue and found Maxwell had been shot multiple times, leading to the crash. JFRD took Maxwell to a local hospital, where he died.

Detectives identified Brooks, a family member of Maxwell, as a suspect. On July 9, Brooks was interviewed and arrested on charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
