JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new study from Wallethub released Tuesday found that Florida is a hot spot for people looking to buy their first home.
Six Florida cities made the Top 10 for the best cities for first-time homebuyers in 2024.
The study measures affordability, real estate and quality of life markers in 300 U.S. locations.
The top spot belongs to Palm Bay, followed by Cape Coral, Port St. Lucie, Tampa and Orlando.
Jacksonville ranks 37th on the list, with a score of 58.3.
Eight out of the bottom 10 worst cities for aspiring homeowners can be found in California.
Costa Mesa, Glendale, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Barbara, and Santa Monica were the bottom 9, with Berkeley sitting at the 300th spot.
The study also used key metrics including home prices, taxes and crime rates.
