Inmate dies in Duval County jail after waiting to be moved to mental health facility

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday morning after spending several months behind bars at the Duval County jail, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Timmothy Elwin Wright, 46, was arrested in late January after police said he violated his probation for a 2018 lewd and lascivious exhibition charge.

Wright was found incompetent and was waiting to be moved to a mental health facility.

Officers found Wright unresponsive just after 6 a.m. and medical professionals attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful.

His death is currently classified as undetermined until the medical examiner’s office can identify his cause of death.
