Kent Fuchs unanimously voted to serve as interim president of University of Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Kent Fuchs as the interim president effective August 1, according to the university.

“I am thrilled that Kent has agreed to take on this important role at such a critical time to ensure a smooth and orderly transition as we prepare to initiate a national presidential search,” Mori Hosseini, Board of Trustees chair said. “We owe him a huge debt of gratitude.”

Fuchs, who served as the 12th UF president from 2015 to 2023, said he is honored to have been asked to serve.

“My wish is only to be of service to the university,” Fuchs said. “I look forward to working this year with the faculty, staff, students, and alumni as we lead the nation in our teaching, research, and land grant and clinical activities.”

Dr. Fuchs currently teaches an electrical engineering class in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

The Board of Trustees is expected to announce it is launching a national search for President Ben Sasse’s permanent successor in the coming weeks.
