JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – America celebrates National Intern Day on Thursday, July 25th. We are using Thursday as an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and growth shown by our 2024 summer interns here at News4JAX.
Our interns bring us fresh perspectives and ideas every day that help us grow. We are taking this opportunity to introduce you to our amazing summer interns and to thank them for all of their hard work!

EMMETT RICE
News/Meteorology Intern
Emmett Rice was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He is studying Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University and plans to graduate this May. Emmett has a huge passion for both fitness and music and forecasting the weather in his hometown has been a lifelong goal of his.
FRANK PALMIERI
Creative Services/River City Live Intern
Frank Palmieri was born in Jacksonville (raised in St. Augustine) and has been creating since day one as a River City Live intern. He has shown impressive skill behind the scenes but has truly excelled as a host and reporter. With a knack for storytelling and asking thought-provoking questions, his easy-going demeanor puts guests at ease and provides the ideal environment for a successful segment! Frank hopes to one day host his own TV show where he can continue to provide a platform for others to share their passions in the spotlight.
JAIDA BARBER
News Intern
Jaida Barber is a Liberty University senior living in Tampa, Florida. She loves to read and go on spontaneous outings with friends. Her major is digital media and journalism, and she plans to become an investigative reporter.

KAILEY SCHOCHETS
News/Sports Intern
Kailey Schuchts is a rising senior at Florida State University. She majors in media/communication studies and hopes to be a sports reporter. In her free time, she loves playing sports, going to the beach, adventuring, and spending time with her friends and family!
KAITLYN WALSH
News Intern
Kaitlyn Walsh joins News4Jax again this summer! She interned here last summer and returned to intern again before her senior year started at Florida State University. She majors in media and communication studies at FSU and minors in journalism at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Her goal is to graduate with a multi-media journalist job and work towards her goal of becoming a reporter who can make an impact on her local community. She loves spending time with her family and her friends.
RODRIGO ARIAS
Sales Intern
Rodrigo Arias is graduating from the University of North Florida with a major in Advertising and Digital Marketing.
“Interning with the sales department, I have learned the intricacies of the media business,” Arias said. “I have had the opportunity to sit in on political meetings, local business meetings, and more. My jobs included researching markets, creating sales presentations, cold-calling prospects, and many more fun and exciting tasks. Every step of the way has been informative and fun, I’d recommend this to anyone looking to grow as a professional.”
TAYLOR CARDONA
Creative Services/River City Live Intern
Taylor Cardona was born and raised in Puerto Rico and joins WJXT as a River City Live intern full of creativity and command of the studio space. From day one she fully embraced her natural initiative - producing, editing, and hosting. As a true triple threat, she hopes to use these combined skills and her signature spice to produce and host her own TV show -OR- work in conjunction with a professional sports team like our very own JAGS!
ZAHRIA HARVEY
News/Digital & Social Media Intern
Hailing from Pompano Beach, FL, Zahria Harvey is a recent graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Media Communication Studies. She is passionate about giving back to her community and has advocated for minorities from low-income areas. Zahria is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Her end goal is to pursue a career in digital marketing and community engagement for a professional sports league/team. Throughout her time with WJXT, she has had the opportunity to attend the Top 20 Under 40 Juneteenth event, shadow amazing reporters like Amanda DeVoe, craft web articles, and produce content for social media. She is excited to continue her endeavors in digital and social media while impacting those around her.

The News4JAX internship program is designed to augment the educational development of those studying for careers in broadcasting by creating opportunities for college students to gain experience in a station’s day-to-day operations.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Be majoring in a broadcast-related field (i.e. communications, journalism, broadcast production techniques, engineering skills or marketing)
- Be seeking course credits or their equivalent (such as master’s thesis)
- Be classified at least “junior” when internship begins
