Saturday’s event followed Putnam County’s which was two weeks ago, where NEFAR said realtors in that area collected 1,000 pounds of trash for the first of their three events for this year’s waterway’s clean-up.

Those who volunteered were supplied gloves, grabbers and trash bags to hopefully collect 10,000 pounds of garbage from areas in regions that feed into Northeast Florida’s waterways.
Site cleanups included: Black Creek Marina in Green Cove Springs, Wayne B. Stevens Boat Ramp, Bert Maxwell Boat Ramp, Sidney Geffen Park, Friendship Fountain area and Lions Club Boat Ramp — all in Jacksonville.
People with boats also met at the Lions Boat Club ramp in Arlington and made their way to goat island to clean up areas not accessible by land.
After the cleanup, a party will be held at the NEFAR Resource Center on Deercreek Club Road.
