17-year-old boy thrown from car, killed in Baker County crash

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy died early Thursday in a crash on Fred Harvey Road in Baker County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the boy was driving a gray Mazda sedan near Johnnie Bennett Lane around 2 a.m. when for unknown reasons, the car ran off the road to the right causing it to spin and flip.

As the car was flipping, the 17-year-old, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, which eventually hit a tree, according to FHP.

The 17-year-old, who was from Sanderson, died at the scene, troopers said.
