ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Republican Party urged Republican voters to double-check their voter guides before heading to the polls at the start of early voting Saturday.
Fraudulent guides were mailed to voters and the SJC Republican Party wanted to notify people to dispel any confusion.

The fraudulent voter guides look similar to the correct guide. However, the imposter guide (pictured on the left) included the St. Johns County GOP logo, a slate of candidates that the party did not endorse, and it did not have legal disclaimers stating who paid for the guide.
The party said in June it voted to endorse candidates in eight races in the Aug. 20 primary.
SJC Republican Party Chairman Denver Cook called the fake guides the “most obvious case of voter fraud” that he “witnessed to date.”
Cook said law enforcement was contacted about the matter and the fraudulent activity was also referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Cook also planned to pursue legal action on behalf of the SJC Republican Party.
“The Republican Party of Florida and the St. Johns County Republican Party are the only organizations qualified to speak officially on behalf of our party in St. Johns County. We are taking this matter very seriously and are investigating. No Florida voter should be misled by anonymous, phony groups pretending to speak for the GOP,” Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power said in a statement.
Cook and Power asked voters to submit the fraudulent guides as evidence. Cook can be reached at denvercook@comcast.net or 904-547-0027.
Power can be contacted at epower@rpof.org or 850-519-1062.
Early voting begins Saturday, Aug. 10. Election Day is August 20.
