COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Columbia County couple is displaced after a tree fell on their home following Tropical Storm Debby.
Georgia Faith-Fields said the tree was inches away from hitting them as they were sleeping.
“It was scary and it felt like the feeling of something dropping right on top of you. It was terrifying,” Faith-Fields said.
She described it as a traumatic experience she and her fiancé went through as Tropical Storm Debby moved through their area.
The roots of this oak tree are now exposed after it fell onto the home, landing in their bedroom.
“Something hit my stomach… we were choking for a couple of days,” she said.
Now with their home destroyed and no help from FEMA, the couple has to start over.
They created a GoFundMe to help with expenses.
