Man charged in murder of 6-year-old girl found dead in Woodstock home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man has been accused in the murder of a 6-year-old girl who was found dead in a Woodstock home earlier this year.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Tyrone Golson, 60, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Jahrasha Golson.

According to JSO, Jahrasha died of multiple blunt force traumas and poisoning from a drug found in over-the-counter allergy medicines, called diphenhydramine, according to the medical examiner who classified her death as a homicide.

According to an arrest report, Tyrone Golson was Jarasha’s legal guardian and said during an interview at police headquarters he had “been in her life since she was 5 months old.”

On Feb. 19, police were called that night about an unresponsive child found inside a home on Allison Street in the Woodstock neighborhood.

The arrest report says Jahrasha was found in a bed in the back bedroom of the house, and when officers arrived, a man was performing CPR on the 6-year-old.

They noted her eyes were half-closed and glazed over, and the child “showed no signs of life.”

Jahrasha was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the report.

The report also says the Department of Children and Families (DCF) tried to conduct a wellness check on Jahrasha in January after it got an anonymous call that Tyrone Golson was possibly abusing her.

The report says Golson did not allow DCF to visibly inspect Jarahsha for any physical, mental or emotional injuries.

He was arrested a few days after Jarasha’s death in connection with an unrelated case, and has been in jail ever since.

In that other case, he is charged with unlawful sex with a minor, online soliciting and possession of child pornography.

Golson is being held at the Duval County Jail without bond.
