‘I’ve never seen myself like this’: Local photography company hosts event to pamper, empower women in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A local photography company hosted an exclusive event Sunday to pamper and empower dozens of women in Jacksonville.

In 2022, BEBO Captured Moments, a photography and videography company, launched a series called “Woman Bold and Beautiful.” As part of this annual series, the company gives 10 women a free modeling session under the Jacksonville Pier with the goal of making them feel beautiful.

But the pampering doesn’t end there.

In addition to the photoshoots, the company also hosts an annual event where they give free makeovers by professional artists, blowouts, dinner, and glamor shoots for dozens of women — all of whom are part of an exclusive guest list.

“With our company partnering with Brick and Beam, we put on the most elegant, glamourous evening where every woman can embrace their Bold and Beautiful self and let all stress, fears, and responsibilities fade away for a while,” Bethany Bryan, owner of BEBO Captured Moments, said.

Bryan said the idea came after going through a divorce, and the need to start a journey to “feel beautiful and powerful again.”

“We know that women have families and jobs and take care of the house, they are selfless and eliminate all excuses,” Bryan said. “Our mission is to give them the night of their lives. This is more valuable than gold.”

She talked about some comments she’s gotten from the women who’ve participated.

“We were going through the pictures together, and she said, ‘I’ve never seen myself like this,’ and I said I have to do this more often because it was such a beautiful experience to see the look on her face when I’m just going through my picture and showing her,” Bryan said.

This year, the annual free event grew its exclusive guest list from 20 to 77 women.

Alesha Howard said this was her second year attending the event.

“I’ve had a lot of losses this past year, it’s really brought me out of my shell,” Howard said. “Even last year, I was invited and I got to come, and it was after a really hard time in it, and it helped me come outside again and be myself again and put on makeup and feel beautiful again.”

Grace Leroy said the event helps boost self-esteem, body positivity and fun.

“So I came in I wanted to get a good makeover, so I came in with my base done, so they can give me maybe some full glam, get a nice blowout, and get some really nice photos taken that I can look at and feel really good about myself,” Leroy said.

Organizers said they hope to grow that list even more in 2025 to allow 150 women to be pampered at this event.
