But it can be delayed if you don’t go to the right polling location.
“It is a very exciting time,” Jerry Holland, Supervisor of Elections for Duval County said. “You know for us it’s about preparation about being ready. Our people are excited but there is a lot of anticipation.”
In Duval County, there are over 630,000 registered voters, and in the primary, about 75,000 are expected to vote. Preparation began months ago.
This year, supervisor of election offices (SOEs) have a new threat to consider: artificial intelligence.
Homeland Security held a meeting with Florida’s SOEs, warning them of false information being sent to voters to confuse or mislead them on election day.
“Well first of all if you get a phone call or something that has my voice or I am talking to you or something where you say, ‘well thats different than what we normally do,’ it could be A.I. You need to call our office at 255-VOTE and verify if something seems different,” Holland said.
Holland said his office is prepared for any unexpected challenges.
“Our biggest goal and the first challenge is making sure every polling location opens on time at 7 a.m.,” said Holland.
He also said it’s important that voters know where they are going. News4JAX called the 10 counties in Northeast Florida.
