JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is putting a spotlight on a murder investigation that started almost 20 years ago.

It started when a passer-by located a body near the 1300 block of Ribault Scenic Drive at around noon on Thursday, June 23, 2005.

JSO detailed the case in a video posted to YouTube.

Johnson was found with numerous wounds and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide by way of blunt force trauma.

At the time of his discovery, Johnson had not been seen by family members for about a week. Johnson is the son of Beverly McClain. McClain founded the organization called Families of Slain Children, which focuses on helping families cope with grief.

The organization is most known for the dedication of loved ones’ names in front of its building on Myrtle Avenue.

JSO detectives worked for several years in an effort to identify a potential suspect in Johnson’s murder, however, every lead was exhausted, and tips slowed to none. Now, JSO again is opening the case up and asking for assistance from the community.

Anyone with information that may lead detectives closer to solving the murder of Johnson is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
