JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dozens of people living in an apartment complex in the Holly Oaks neighborhood woke up Sunday to their cars broken into.

News4JAX went to the Bridgepoint Apartments on Monument Road, near St. Johns Bluff Road, and talked to the residents who were cleaning up after finding shattered glass all over the parking lot.

Brandon Parsons got a knock Sunday morning from police, telling him that someone had broken into his car.

“I feel violated, I don’t know,” Parsons said.

Shattered glass sat next to his truck, and the tools he said were in there, were gone.

“That is $3,000-$4000 worth of tools,” Parsons said.

Parsons was one of many people who woke up to the unfortunate news.

Victoria and Jared Repka also took a big hit, more than their smashed window. Someone stole their credit card.

“I think they added up to about $400 between three transactions,” they said.

Jared said while they stole his credit card, other things were left behind.

“They left coins and I think they were just going for cash and cards,” Jared said.

Each person had their own experience.

Another neighbor showed News4JAX another person’s broken car where the burglars actually left something behind.

“I told the cops, I was like, ‘Look, there are gloves right there,’” he said.

Neighbors told News4JAX that mostly seniors and low-income people live at that complex.

“Have to put it on my credit card, the $420 to get the windows fixed. I can pay cash for it but it will wipe me out but I will not have anything to live on for two weeks,” a resident told News4JAX.

David Oaks said he feels violated, like everyone else.

“Makes me feel like I have been taken advantage of,” Oaks said.

While he is frustrated, he is using this as an opportunity, to trust the right thing will happen in the end.

“I am going to hand it over to God so I can calm down, and as long as we are healthy we can get this replaced,” Oaks said.
