Man dies after truck slams into large tree in Baker County

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – A 65-year-old man died after hitting a tree off a roadway in Baker County on Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said at 4:26 p.m., the man was driving north in a pickup truck on County Road 23A north of South Tall Pine Road.

FHP said that for unknown reasons, the driver traveled off the roadway to the west on the grass shoulder.

The truck kept going and its left front struck a large tree, sending it into a spin.

The driver, who is from Macclenny, was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
