JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead after a crash in East Arlington on Friday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO said the 31-year-old man was driving a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle east on Matthew Unger Drive around 6:30 p.m. when a Sports Utility Vehicle turned left onto Casheros Cove Drive in front of the motorcycle.

The two vehicles collided, and the motorcyclist was thrown off the bike.

The impact also caused the motorcycle to continue to travel, hit a ditch, and fly into a neighbor’s backyard, JSO said.
The man was wearing a helmet, JSO said. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
JSO said the SUV driver was cooperative and that there were no signs of impairment.
This makes the 87th traffic fatality in Duval County and the 17th involving a motorcycle.
