JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist died after being struck by a pickup truck on Merrill Road in Arlington on Sunday.
Officials said at about 2:30 p.m., a motorcycle with a man and woman was headed east on the inside lane of Merrill Road.
Investigators said at the same time, a pickup truck heading north on I-295 exited onto the ramp to go east.
The truck driver moved from the right to the left lane and struck the motorcycle, causing both riders to be thrown into the concrete barrier.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue transported the man and woman to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead and the woman is in stable condition.
The pickup truck driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.
Officials said there were no indicators of impairment or road rage.
Both motorcyclists were wearing helmets.
Police advised drivers to be more cautious while driving for the Labor Day weekend.
JSO said while the motorcyclist was not at fault for the crash, they reminded people that they offer a free motorcycle safety course for riders at every experience level.
