Police investigating death of man found shot in vacant home on Norwood Avenue (WJXT)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are working to piece together more information on what led to the shooting death of a man found inside a vacant home.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it responded to the vacant home on Edgewood Avenue West Wednesday afternoon after receiving numerous calls about shots fired.

The body of a man believed to be between 16 to 20 years old was found shot inside the home.

Fire rescue confirmed the man was dead.

JSO said it has little information about what led to his death. It’s unclear if an altercation or argument was the cause, police said.

Witnesses told police that there were two groups of individuals behind the home and several young men were seen running from the area.

It’s also unclear if these events are related to the shooting.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and asking anyone with information to come forward.
