Forson said the district is working collaboratively with the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office to increase security in and around schools, including air support and surveillance.
“We appreciate our relationship with law enforcement as the safety and security of our staff and students remains the top priority,” Forson wrote in an email to parents.
Fletcher High School students in Neptune Beach will also notice extra security on Thursday after police were notified about a threat made toward the school on social media.
Local investigators determined the threat was not credible, but they beefed up security for the day with more officers on campus as a precaution.
