ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The City of St. Augustine will hold its first workshop Thursday to get feedback from community members on how to shape the city’s future.
Back in August, the City of Augustine and the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC), the city’s consultant, said that they would host a series of workshops for community members to give their input for “necessary updates” to the city’s 2014 Vision Plan.

The vision plan was adopted 10 years ago and used as a critical reference guide for the 2020 update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan that detailed what officials hoped the city would look like over the next 25 years.
The plan that’s written outlines ways the city hopes to deal with growth and plans for the future. Some of the areas it looks to address include:
- Land use
- Historic preservation
- Conservation and coastal management
- Recreation and use of open space
- Transportation
- Housing
- Infrastructure
Back in March, residents shared concerns like traffic congestion and infrastructure. They also shared suggestions like adding a new fire station along State Road 13 and creating bicycle paths that are separated from the road.
The updated adoption will go into effect in January 2025.
The kick-off workshop will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Johns County Main Library on 1960 N Ponce De Leon Boulevard.
The remaining workshops will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. as follows:
- Monday, Sept. 16 at the St. Augustine Yacht Club on 442 Ocean Vista Avenue
- Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Willie Galimore Community Center on 399 Riberia Street
- Wednesday, Oct. 16 at The Waterworks on 184 San Marco Avenue
- Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Shiloh Baptist Church on 271 W King Street
- Wednesday, Nov. 13 at The Alcazar Room, city hall, on 75 King Street
