CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A 33-year-old man was killed in a crash after leading Clay County deputies on a pursuit that ended on County Road 209 Friday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

Task Force deputies were able to locate Miracle, who was driving a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 17, south of Green Cove Springs. Deputies said Miracle was driving his pickup truck in a “manner that was consistent with someone that may be under the influence or impaired.”

According to the sheriff’s office, as deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Miracle tried to ram one of the deputies’ vehicles, but the deputy was able to avoid being struck.

Then deputies said, Miracle drove away and continued to drive “recklessly and at a high rate of speed.”

As deputies pursued and attempted to stop Miracle, they said he continued driving south on County Road 209, where he failed to negotiate a curve and left the road onto the left shoulder.

The pickup truck then crashed into the tree line and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said Miracle died at the scene.

FHP is now conducting an independent investigation of the incident, according to Clay County deputies.
