People said they remember coming to the pub as kids and now they have kids of their own. They said they used to play on the pavement and in the phone booth.
Ann Dyke, the owner of the pub rang the bell for the last time at 5 p.m., signifying that the bar is closed.
Dyke said she opened the pub because she felt like the area lacked a true representation of a pub.
She said Kings Head became a place where families can gather and enjoy themselves.
Dyke said multiple issues in recent years are forcing them to close.
"Well it’s basically yes I mean it’s very hard to try and keep going because people don’t like the price of food going up,” Dyke said. “But they’re own grocery bills are going up but also there’s a lot of disrespect about today. These youngsters don’t respect the way we used to have to.”
A woman talked about all the memories that she made at the pub.
“Bringing all my family together we always sit at the same table,” My husband always gets the fish and chips because it’s the very best and I always have the Sunday roast,” Jane Usina-Hamm said.
Now she said she and her husband will get that food elsewhere. She hopes someone looks into buying the pub and keeping it around.
