Missing toddler found in pond dies, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A girl who was almost 3 years old died Tuesday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police were called to Bennett Creek Drive in the Southpoint area of Jacksonville to search for the missing toddler around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers found the little girl in a nearby pond and swam out to pull her back to shore.

Officers immediately began CPR until Jacksonville Fire and Rescue paramedics arrived to take the girl to a local hospital, where she died.
