BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – A now-former firefighter with the Baker County Fire and Rescue Department was arrested Wednesday and is accused of sending explicit messages and photographs to a 12-year-old girl in South Carolina, according to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Alexamuel “Alex” Vazquez Dueno, 29, was detained following an investigation into a 12-year-old girl in South Carolina who received lewd messages and photographs on a social media platform from a man in Baker County.

According to the sheriff’s office, the messages were found by the girl’s dad who turned them over to local law enforcement in Spartanburg.

When the allegations were brought forward to Baker County deputies, officials learned that the suspect sending the inappropriate communication was a Baker County firefighter.

Deputies said Vazquez Dueno was immediately placed on administrative leave pending a criminal investigation by BCSO.

After gathering more evidence and questioning Vazquez Dueno, deputies arrested Vazquez Dueno on charges of transmitting harmful material to a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

The Baker County Fire and Rescue Department has now terminated Vazquez Dueno.
