ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County School District will host four town halls in the upcoming weeks to talk to community members and voters about two referendums on the November ballot intended to funnel more money into the school system.
The current sales tax referendum under the Capital Outlay budget is set to end in 2025, and voters will decide if they want that sales tax to continue for 10 additional years. The money is used to support school construction, security improvements, maintenance and technology advancements, the district said.

The second referendum would raise property taxes to support an increase in teacher and staff salaries. According to the district, the one-mill rate increase would help recruit teachers, improve school safety and invest in student welfare and enhanced programs.
