Schools to remain closed across Southeast Georgia after Hurricane Helene

WARE COUNTY, Fla. – Ware, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Brantley, and Pierce County are among school closures in Georgia due to Hurricane Helene.

Ware County

All Ware County Schools and the Central Office will remain closed at least through Tuesday, Oct. 1. The district said it will determine when to resume school operations.

Few places had power on Friday as downed powerlines littered the area, and damage could be seen at the fire station headquarters in Waycross, where the fire safety trailer tipped on its side and the shelter that covered it crumpled to the ground.

Brantley County

Brantley County Schools announced that it will be closed until further notice.

Pierce County

Pierce County Schools said it will be closed until further notice.

Charlton County

Charlton County Schools will remain closed on Monday, Sept. 30.

Glynn County

Glynn County Schools said it will be closed on Monday, Sept. 30.

Camden County

Camden County Schools said it will remain closed on Monday, Sept. 30.

The county said although progress has been made, it is still facing challenges including power outages, blocked roads and communication disruptions.
