JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Publix will reveal the grand opening of its new Jacksonville location in Harbour Place on Oct. 3. The long-awaited store will have a fresh new look that matches its current models, while Deerwood Village is scheduled to be demolished.
According to News4JAX news partner the Jax Daily Record, the Lakeland-based grocery store intends to close its Deerwood Village store at 9964 Old Baymeadows Road on Oct. 5 to tear it down and build a new one.

Publix spokesperson Hannah Herring said on Sept. 9 that she did not have a timeline for the Deerwood Village reopening. If all goes as planned, they would be looking at January 2026.
Publix has been expanding throughout Florida and the lower United States. Now, it’s revamping its older locations to keep up with the times and foot traffic, offering more product selections, and giving customers a new look and feel of the store.
Publix in Florida has 871 store locations throughout the state, (92) in Alabama, (214) in Georgia, (54) in North Carolina, (69) in South Carolina, (58) in Tennessee, (20) in Virginia, and Kentucky (2).
So far, they are slated to open six new locations in October: two in Florida, two in Georgia, one in North Carolina, and one in Alabama.
Publix is considered one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States, employing 255,000 people.
